MEET THE OWNER

Hi, I’m Derek, founder and managing member of Hexyl Group LLC. My journey has been anything but ordinary — and I believe that’s my greatest strength. Over the years, friends often joke that I’ve “lived many lives,” and in a way, they’re right. Each chapter of my story has shaped the vision and purpose behind this company: to build a network of diverse businesses that uplift our families, our community, and future generations.

Since 2010, I’ve worked as a successful chemist, helping food and beverage companies develop innovative products that have generated millions in revenue. My time with one of the largest global beverage companies and other leading brands gave me a deep understanding of research, development, and consumer insight, fueling my passion for innovation and excellence in the food and beverage industry.

But my experience goes far beyond the lab. I’ve painted million-dollar homes, worked in restaurants, grocery stores, and food service, and even pursued my love of music and creativity as a performing musician. I’ve been surrounded by hard work and entrepreneurship my whole life — my father, a dedicated contractor, and my mother, a talented accountant and jack of all trades, instilled in me a respect for craft, precision, and integrity. Carrying forward their legacies is a driving force in the work I do today.

I considered becoming a teacher, and while my career ultimately took a different path, that same love for teaching and mentoring remains central to my leadership style. Whether guiding a team member, collaborating with partners, or supporting our community through nonprofit work, I believe in lifting others up as we grow together.

Through this LLC, I’ve combined everything I’ve learned — from the trades to corporate boardrooms, from artistry to analytics — into a single platform for building sustainable, interconnected ventures. This company is not just about business; it’s about creating opportunity, honoring my roots, and leaving a legacy of purpose, integrity, and growth that will last for generations to come.
